So, I haven't written in forever, so I decided it was time to bring this blog back from the dead. School has been great so far this year! Victoria has been beautiful and it's hard to believe it's October already. We've been spoiled with the weather...not very much rain, and sunny and warm most of the time.
Anyways, in order to have a theme for the first blog entry in a long time, I shall call it:
Top 10 Reasons Why this Weekend was so AWESOME!!
1) It was Thanksgiving weekend, so that meant 2 turkey feasts with all the fixin's...one of which we prepared ourselves and hosted at our amazing townhouse! My mashed yams were a total hit, despite the fact that I was covered head to toe in the orange stuff while preparing it.
2) The weather was perfect for Thanksgiving...the leaves are changing and falling, and it's a bit cooler, but mostly just blue skies and a light breeze...absolutely GORGEOUS!!
3) I ran an 8k road race...in which I placed in the top 10 for females between 20 and 24...a moment of pride for me as they announced my name as I crossed the finish line (which they do for all runners, but I like to think I was special..."here's a young Calgarian.." they said)!
4) I learned how to play the guitar...an actual song...Romance, I think it's called...it's some sort of classical guitar piece, and I sound pretty exceptional...at least that's what I think, though the roomates might debate that after having listened to me practice it in my free time.
5) I've been planning my recital, which is in 5 weeks time...my theme, you ask? 3 Choices, same idea..."From Brahms to the Barnyard", "From Brahms to B.S.E." or "From Brhams to Bovine"...no matter what I choose, I know it'll be memorable.
6) We met the cutest bunny on campus...and he came inside our house...and we fed him...a lot! And I held him, and Aaron took pictures. I thought of bringing him inside to keep as a pet, but I think that may be frowned upon by housing services...and animal rights activists(regardless of how well we treat him).
7) Sonya and I just returned from the most amazing walk to the beach...walking through the sand barefoot drinking tea under a blanket of sunny blue skies!!
8) Tara is downstairs making caramel popcorn, which we will hopefully spend tonight eating as we hold our second official girls' night, complete with facials, manicures and pedicures.
9) I made banana waffles. It was an adventure, batter dripping off the waffle iron, abnormally shaped waffles...but they tasted great, and Dave, Tara, and Aaron definitely appreciated them!
10) I slept in this morning...this was especially nice since I was up at 7am on Saturday for youth orchestra, and at 5:45am yesterday to head downtown on time for my race.
OK...so I thought of a couple more reasons why this weekend was so great...so I'll tack them on too!
10.3333) I made bubble tea with Clayton and Barry last night...it wasn't as good as the real thing, but it was much more successful than our last bubble tea making experience.
10.6667) I made my orchestral debut on Friday at the annual Concerto Concert...though I wasn't playing a concerto myself, I thoroughly enjoyed playing in two of the pieces...well done Kathy and Tim....and got to listen to the amazing showmanship of Lisa playing Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto...the last slow section gave me goosebumps every time!!
Anyways...I should go check on the progress of the caramel corn, and then head to the school to practice for a few hours so I can be back for our girls' night!

Wow, a 7-month haitus. That's reasonably impressive. I'm also impressed with your 10.3333 and 10.6667 addendums to the list.
7:20 p.m.
Shouldn't it have been 9.3333 and 9.6667 inorder to not exceed 10?
7:43 p.m.
I'm impressed by the use of the word addendum. I'm going to addendum that word into my word-stock.
And Jacqui, banana waffles intrigue me. How does that work? Do you mash up the banana right in to the waffle mix, then pour into the waffle iron? That sounds good. Almost as good as bacon waffles. Speaking of bacon, I got a veggie burger from A&W on the weekend...with extra bacon! And I was the last one to get served before it closed, suckers! Some fat ass guy with his fat is daughter in fat ass (and leg and ankle) camo-pants waddled in, and had to waddle back to their truck cause it was closed. They were presumably going hunting for the weekend, which makes me question how a sport can have such fat 'athletes'. Then again, linemen in football aren't exactly in tip-top shape, but that might be perspective. They are in perfect shape to stop the opposing team and whatnot. Still, it can't be healthy. Although sitting on your ass all day in front of a computer, or two, or ten, isn't that healthy. I'm still not fat though, but maybe soon. I think I am almost getting a beer gut, but that is more than you wanted to know. I decided that hard liquor is the easier way to get drunk, and probably...well not healthier, but at least less calories. I think alcohol in general probably isn't the best thing for your braincells, but oh well. If it feels good, do it. I think that was a song by Sloan. I never really liked Sloan, but I was them once in concert as an opening band. They were alright. I liked one quote their singer had, that they would win the Juno for lifetime achievement the same year they won the Grammy for best new artist. Funny thing, the Canadian music industry. I don't think CanCon does much to help Canadian artists, just pissed off people who don't like the Tragically Hip. Speaking of which, that is a very EMO name. Man, I hate emo. I saw this guy on the train today with a hat and scarf and converse sneakers...and I cried. Does that make me emo? What is emo, anyways? I think of it as a style of dressing...I doubt it means much more. Like punk. Well, sometimes punks are just assholes. I saw this guy with a jacket with words all over it like "White Power, People=suck" and whatnot. I couldn't help but wonder what the point is. But, free speech and all that...it is important. My mom was asking me why 'they' can't just shut down 'bad' internet sites. I replied 'haven't you read 1984?'. I think that is good enough of an answer to a lot of questions. Even so, every day is another step closer. And my god once you start down that slippery slope, you can't just turn around and walk back up. Maybe it's best just to close your eyes and jump. I read that metaphor's in songs shouldn't be longer than two lines. It is part of the formula for the perfect pop song. I think I should try the formula sometime, but what would the point be? It's not like I can play/sing, even a simple pop song. That doesn't mean I won't try. I was told my version of "Should I Stay or Should I Go" was "Clashic". Genius! Well, actually, I came up with Clashic. Claschic! The Clash were always better than the Punk label. It's funny how poppy punk has become these days. Or popular music in general. Not much to offer, musically or lyrically. I think the love song has been loved too much. Yea, people fall and love and it's so great....you don't have to write a song about it just because it happens to you. Oh my god I hate spoons! Don't bother, it's another story altogether. Which reminds me that I need to read more. Read more fiction, or anything. All I do is work, type random shit in random forms in random places on random internet sites, eat, sleep, a little bit of 1, 2, and sometimes 3, then go back to work. Fucking spoon! I need to take out my stress on something. I really need to work on the whole getting fat issue. I mean, I'm probably almost average weight for my height now. I need to eat healthier too, I suppose. I don't eat much fruit, I can't handle more than an apple or two a week. I don't mind bananas, but not alone. They have to be in something. I wonder what banana waffles would be like?

First off, Kevin wins a prize for the longest blog comment EVER...though I was quite amused sitting through my Student Music Educators' Association Executive meeting and reading it to keep me from falling into a deep slumber...or coma...which could be entirely possible based on my serious lack of sleep lately. Second of all, banana waffles are indeed a work of art...just mash the bananas right into the batter...I highly reccommend googling to find a recipe, but they basically turn out as kind of pseudo banana-bread in waffle form...if that makes any sense. Regardless, my roomates ate them...and then proceeded to leave me to eat alone (since I cooked mine last), and clean up all of their dishes. Anyways, I would highly reccommend you make them...like right now...do it...now! Oh, and I hate spoons too. Unless they're filled with ice cream...in that case, I like spoons.
9:23 p.m.
Alright, I didn't read enough of Kevins comment to reach a point discussing spoons...
Jacqui, why do you never make me banana waffles? Is our love dead Jacqui? Is it?
On a totally different topic, I had the best Crantini ever last night. I ended up having three of them, and while I was finishing the third, I was thinking about how convenient it would be if I didn't have to drink them seperately. This is proof that the "Novelty Martini Glass Fountain" must be created so that a situation like that will never be encountered again. Think of all that wasted energy...drinking from 3 seperate glasses.
7:00 a.m.
Holy FUCK. Kevin, you never cease to amaze me. Not only was that a complete brain-dump into a little input field on a (pseudo)random page, it had cyclical continuity. You started with banana waffles and ended with banana waffled. Yes, I read the whole thing.
Furthermore, there's nothing wrong with spoons. I almost prefer spoons to forks unless I have to stab something. But for things like rice, chili, veggies, etc.. give me a spoon any day. It's more efficient.
8:54 a.m.
Kristen...as soon as I'm home, I'll make you banana waffles...my love for you will never cease!Oh, and I'm glad to hear about your Crantini discovery...if only I were there to share in the joy with you. Unfortunately, I am beginning to stress about this recital that seems to be creeping up on me at a rather fast pace...must...not...go...CRAZY!! I'll definitely need a stiff Crantini once it's all over!
And Johnny, I can't believe you'd choose a spoon over a fork...stabbing things is WAY more fun...I mean, if someone tried to attack you while you were eating, what would you do with a spoon? Try to scoop out their eyeballs?? I don't think so...it's all about the swift jab with a fork into their thigh...not that I'd know...just kidding...I promise you that I've never stabbed a person with a fork...my mom has.
10:15 a.m.
I think forks are just plain sexier than spoons. Knives, some may find sexy...but I find a little too sharp to be sexy. I'll stop myself before I go off on a little bit of a tangent again. I apologize for that yesterday...just started typing and it kept coming...stress is a funny thing. Wasn't completely free flowing, if I typed whatever came in to my head it would just be about oral sex. I'll get my own damn blog.
And a Crantini sounds good about now...or a bit later, or whenever.
11:26 a.m.
I guess it all comes down to this: would you rather spoon or fork? Hahahahahahaha. What a bad pun. Fork.
I find it interesting that oral sex takes up so much of your brain activity, Kev. I think if I were to brain-dump into a box, I wouldn't type anything.
So I'm thinking a Christmas Crantini party with Banana Waffles is in order.
1:22 p.m.
And so the Martini Banana Waffle Mingle was created.
